Left the sandy overnight beach for a windy and rough ride on Lake Pepin to Lake City for fuel and breakfast. Passed by Maiden Rock.
Left the Lake City Marina for several rough miles into the wind.
Passed Wabasha and the national eagle center, but didn’t stop.
Saw many rental houseboats. Seemed like it would be a fun weekend trip!
Got to Alma and lock 4 that was wide open and quick passage. Came upon a sand barge that we think was being loaded.
Passed by a huge wetland area across the river from Minneisko MN. Saw several eagles, cormorants and swans!
Had to wait a little for a barge at lock 5a, but still going well. Pulled into the Winona Marina for the night. Did a little bike ride around town passed the “river houses”
I still think a houseboat would be more fun. 52 miles today. Hope to reach Lacrosse or beyond tomorrow!
