Day 33 – Oct 8, 2018

Got an early start today. Hoping to reach Demopolis AL, about 55 miles away.

Very little development along this segment of the Tenn-Tom waterway. And minimal cell coverage. This section seems more “river like” and wild. The area is more sparsely populated.

Reached the White Cliffs of Epes that are pretty spectacular!

More white cliffs!

This is the confluence of the end of the Tenn-Tom waterway and the Black Warrior River, just north of Demopolis.

We decided to stop and stay at the Kingfisher Bay and Demopolis Marinas.

This is one of the two best marinas of the trip. Great facilities and close to town.

We caught up with Scott and Kelly, the other pontoon boat couple I’ve been running into since the start of the journey. Several of the Loopers I’ve met were also docked.

Everyone was hanging out here waiting to see what hurricane Michael was going to do. We also decided to wait until at least Wednesday before continuing on.

Bicycled into the Demopolis downtown for groceries and a cold beer. We couldn’t find a bar, just a reminder that we weren’t in Wisconsin! Unfortunately, Demopolis does not seem to be thriving.

Got back to the marina in time for the daily Looper get together. We got invited to come aboard the SS Nonni. We’ve traveled with these folks on and off for the past week.

It was fun to see the inside quarters of one of the “pleasure craft”. Ed has since been mumbling about buying a boat!

I’ve met many very friendly and helpful people on this adventure!

53 Miles today – 1373 total miles!
