Day 23 – Sept 28, 2018

Up this morning, but not a quick start. Checked on the Green Turtles right next to the MikoMan in our slip at the Green Turtle Bay Marina. It is a nice place to stay with great rest rooms, showers, laundry, complimentary car, ship store and friendly people.

Only a mile and we crossed over to Kentucky Lake via a canal.

Kentucky Lake is a huge reservoir of the Tennessee River, almost 70 miles long. We are headed “upstream”. No current, water clear to 2+ feet, greenish rather than brown, no weeds, Wonderful!!

Took a side trip into the Hillman Ferry campground where Kathy and I spent a stormy night camping during our MikoMan scouting trip this Spring.

Very little industrial development. Many resorts and Marinas. It parallels Barkley Lake, another reservoir.

Between the two is a fantastic national recreation area called the Land Between the Lakes. The LBL is full of boat ramps and campgrounds.

The entire area focuses on recreation. There is a lot of beautiful shoreline. We spotted this cave.

We saw many Great Blue Herons, waterfowl and cormorants. Also, the Monarch butterflies were again prevalent under the sunny, blue skies.

Stopped for lunch at a sandy shore across the Lake from the Kenlake Marina and state park.

Saw our first sailboat under sail for the entire trip.

Finally, beached on another sandy spot for the night.

32 Miles today – 974 total miles.
