Day 8 – Sept 13, 2018

Left Fulton Marina. Got held up at the Clinton RR bridge as it was too little clearance. After two trains passed they cracked the bridge and let us pass. We’ve found that these bridge’s staff are often slow to respond to radio calls.

Barge being loaded with lime. This segment of the River is far more industrial.

High water surrounding homes near Albany IL.

Stopped in Princeton IA for fuel and a walk. Princeton was a big mussel digging center in the early 1900s. Mussel shells were used for making buttons.

OB taking on the anchor in Princeton.

Stopped at a Marina in East Moline where I met Mike and Romeo. Mike is caretaker of the marina for the next month before he goes to school for his Captain’s license. He suggested going further downstream as we could dock closer to our next destination.

I couldn’t find the Kubota center, but we settled for the John Deere Pavilion in downtown East Moline. Got to see some fun guy toys!

Docked overnight at the public dock in East Moline.
